Paris becomes Bonapartist again.
This return to power was short-lived: precisely 100 days.
The Waterloo disaster in June forced Napoleon to a second abdication.
Then, it is exile on the island of Saint Helena.

Notre-Dame de Paris
, the famous novel by the writer, was released in bookstores on

1831. The plot of the novel takes place in the cathedral.

Notre-Dame becomes in a way the heroine of a popular tragedy.
The publication of the book attracts attention and the decision is taken to establish a competition for the rehabilitation of the monument.
The project of Viollet-le-Duc and Jean-Baptiste Lassus was retained in 1844.
