This return to power was short-lived: precisely 100 days.

The Waterloo disaster in June forced Napoleon to a second abdication.

Then, it is exile on the island of Saint Helena.

Paris always ... told by Victor Hugo.

Notre-Dame de Paris

, the famous novel by the writer, was released in bookstores on

March 16,

1831. The plot of the novel takes place in the cathedral.

Notre-Dame becomes in a way the heroine of a popular tragedy.

The publication of the book attracts attention and the decision is taken to establish a competition for the rehabilitation of the monument.

The project of Viollet-le-Duc and Jean-Baptiste Lassus was retained in 1844.

Bloodied Paris.

150 years ago, on

March 18,

1871, the Parisians rose up against the signing of the armistice against the Prussians.

On March 19,

Le Figaro

details the events hour by hour: the guards trying to take over the guns, the anger of the Parisians and the start of the barricades.

The next day, like other newspapers,

Le Figaro

was censored.

The episode of the Commune lasts 72 days and it is severely repressed.

On May 21, 1871, the Versailles troops entered the city to retake it from the insurgents.

The Communards kill religious and gendarmes.

On May 28, 1871, at the end of what was called the “bloody week”, the defenders of the Commune were executed in front of the federated wall in the Père Lachaise cemetery.

The Paris Commune no longer exists.
