A 21-year-old young man suffered a brutal beating in Mar del Plata this Sunday, during

a fight between two groups of rugby players

from clubs in the city at the exit of a bowling alley.

The boy - who was admitted to intensive care and due to his favorable evolution went to the intermediate ward - suffered

a fracture in his face, the loss of a tooth

and has multiple injuries to his body.

According to police sources informed the Télam agency, the attack occurred during the early morning hours, when at least seven players from the Sporting and Mar del Plata clubs faced blows after leaving the Quba dance venue, located on the North Escollera, in the Playa Grande area.

Gustavo, Santiago B.'s father - the family asked to preserve his surname.

"When I saw him in the morning, I was scared, he was very beaten," he says and details that when the first neurologist saw him, the young man "didn't even know who he was."

"During the day the doctors told us that the evolution was favorable," he adds.

After the beating, the young man had to be transferred by a SAME ambulance to the Private Community Hospital, where he was hospitalized for several hours in intensive care.

Then he went to the intermediate care room.

Prosecutor Leandro Arévalo, head of the Functional Instruction Unit 7, initiated an ex officio investigation for the crime of "injuries" to determine possible criminal responsibilities.

Arévalo ordered the analysis of security cameras of the place, and also ordered the testimony of witnesses of the fact as part of the investigation.

Gustavo is waiting to see the cameras, to finish understanding how the attack was.

Those close to his son told him that there was an incident inside the bowling alley, between one of Santiago's friends and a group of rugby players from another club.

There was no history of previous fights, says the father.

"He was inside the bowling alley and a friend called him to come out, because there were seven rugby players who wanted to hit him. When he left, there was already an agent from the Prefecture. But they attacked him anyway," says Gustavo. 

The family of the main aggressor - who already had a history of violence - contacted Santiago's parents to apologize and make themselves available.

Gustavo values ​​the gesture, but at the same time maintains that he wants to check the cameras to see the attack in detail.
