Recall of children's toys: Dangerous plasticizer found - harmful effects on the reproductive organs
DEHP is a plasticizer that is now banned in toys or cosmetics.
The Federal Institute for Risk Assessment writes: “Food is an important route of transmission of the plasticizer DEHP. The substance that makes plastics flexible is found in the environment as well as in human urine.
This is undesirable because the substance has harmful effects on the reproductive organs and can thereby impair the reproductive capacity and development of the child in the womb.
DEHP may therefore no longer be used in toys or cosmetics. "
In its recall, Simm Spielwaren GmbH also warns that DEHP is toxic to reproduction and hormonally effective.
