Poetry: dead Zagajewski, 'poet of September 11'

The great Polish poet Adam Zagajewski, one of the most authoritative voices on the world poetic scene, died in Krakow. (HANDLE)


(ANSA) - URBINO, MARCH 22 - The great Polish poet Adam Zagajewski, one of the most authoritative voices in the world poetic panorama, died in Krakow.

Born in 1945 in Lviv, a city then Polish and now Ukrainian, in 2001 he wrote the poem "Try toPraise The Mutilated Wolrd" which came out after 11 September.

The poet was nominated for the Nobel Prize for literature.


   "World Poetry Day was celebrated yesterday in the world. And on the occasion that had already seen the death of Tonino Guerra in 2012, the great Polish poet Adam Zagajewski passed away in Krakow at the age of 75" of Urbino.

The poet, in fact, was "linked to Urbino by a particular affection which culminated on 25 June 2016 with the delivery of the University Seal in the Winter Garden of the Palazzo Ducale by the Rector Vilberto Stocchi and the reading of his poems by the University Theater Center '' Caesar This' ".


   That circumstance was "of great importance not only for the University for the culture of the entire city of Urbino, so much so that the ceremony was organized together with the National Gallery of the Marche".
