All men have a freckle in the same place?
A medical student specializing in pelvic floor warns: Do not try to urinate "for safety" if you do not feel the need (@nosuchthingastm)
Who among us has not ever thought to himself "well, I should go to the bathroom before I go out, that I will not be on my way", a thought that only intensified during the Corona period, when all the cafes and restaurants were closed to us and access to toilets halfway became more problematic.
Many of us have become accustomed to it, when just before we leave home for a walk or a long drive, they vacate - even if they do not really feel the need.
Now, Sabrina Baxter, a medical specialist who is just about to qualify as a physiotherapist with a pelvic floor specialization, argues that such a habit can be dangerous to our health, although seemingly the thought of emptying to avoid possible pressure on the bladder sounds healthier.

The intern warns people to stop "peeing for safety" before leaving the house if they do not really need to, and argues that such a habit can cause bladder hypersensitivity and a higher frequency of need to evacuate.
Baxter explained in a video that has garnered more than a million views on Tiktok why this simple habit might harm you.
She says that although it is okay to urinate "just in case we need to" - that is, when you do not really feel the urge, before a long drive, leaving the house or having sex, if you do it all the time you may confuse the body and make him feel he needs to urinate. That the bladder is not really full.
In the video, she said, "Let's talk about what happens when you pee 'just in case.' "But if you do it often - your bladder will never fill up properly. It will not fill up completely."
Here is her full explanation:

Baxter added: "You get used to urinating when the bladder is only partially full. It may make you want to urinate more often, when the bladder reaches half and then 'Ding Ding Ding, I need to go urinate now.' You actually increase the sensitivity of your bladder and encourage it to empty. "When it fills up with less than the required amount, then your body gets used to it - so it's hard to get out of it. It's a habit. When that happens you have to retrain your bladder."
Did you know that the bladder can be trained to resist for an entire day?

Heather Jaffawat, a Los Angeles-based physiotherapist who specializes in pelvic floor health, confirmed Baxter in an interview with the Bazafid website, explaining: Release and the bladder will want to empty in unpleasant situations, which will lead to urinary incontinence, whether it is in your car while driving or in the hallway on the way to the bathroom. The correct point (for urination) is a regular frequency of one to two to three hours. At night you should sleep at least six hours Wake up. "

For those who are already accustomed to urinating more frequently, Jafkuat suggests doing kegel exercises - which focus on contracting and relaxing the pelvic and vaginal area in women - to ward off the urge.
Kegel exercises make it possible to improve and maintain control of the braces in a state of inability to resist.
In her other videos, Sabrina suggested steps that people can take when they feel an increasing urge to urinate but know that their bladder is not full.
"First, stay calm," she says in one of her videos, "the more stressed you are, the more likely your bladder is to win. Second, do five pelvic floor contractions or kegel exercises. If the urination does not go away, go to the bathroom. "A full bladder can lead to urinary tract infection. This information is mainly for people who are very bothered by the amount of times they have to evacuate. They do not want to walk around all day worrying about where the nearest toilets are and want to try to fix it."
If you can - it's best to pee when you need to
