no concrete plans to end "The Simpsons"

Even after more than 30 years, the series runs successfully on American and international television.
It is now even considered to be the longest running US animated series.
Just a few days ago it reached a new milestone: the 700th episode aired in the USA on March 21, 2021.
In the wake of this record,
Variety
asked
producer Al Jean about future plans for the series.
His answer is: “We will definitely produce 757 episodes.
I wouldn't say it's over after that,
but I'm not
sure
how long we can go on after that
... As soon as they cancel the show, the broadcaster will reissue it.
I'm sure there will be a 'Simpsons' comeback as soon as I'm gone.
The series is too omnipresent to simply make it disappear. "
Al Jean's comment gives hope.
Even after a cancellation, the probability is high that there will be a
new edition of the "Simpsons"
shortly afterwards

Comedy series and sitcoms in particular are currently getting reboots, even though they ended years ago.
These include “Friends” and “The Prince of Bel-Air”.
Since the "Simpsons" is a long-standing cult hit, the station Fox may never be able to say goodbye to the series completely - at least not in the next few years.
