(ANSA) - VATICAN CITY, MARCH 23 - The Easter vigil in St. Peter's Basilica, presided over by Pope Francis, will take place on Saturday 3 April at 7.30 pm, in advance of the tradition.
"The participation of the faithful will be limited according to the methods used in recent months, in compliance with the sanitary measures provided", the Vatican specifies.
Last year the alarm presided over by the Pope was normally held at 9 pm, considering that there were no faithful present in the basilica, due to the Covid lockdown.
This year, despite being limited, the presence of faithful is expected who will have to respect the 22 o'clock 'curfew'.
Due to the persistence of the pandemic, the Via Crucis at the Colosseum also skips this year but will be held in the churchyard of the Vatican basilica.
The meditations were prepared by a group of scouts from Foligno, in Umbria, and by a Roman parish, while the drawings of the 'stations' were entrusted to the children of two families.
The Chrism Mass will be held on Holy Thursday, while the traditional 'washing of the feet' will not take place.
