When fears about the beginning of the second wave of coronavirus infections in the country, one of the patients who had been infected with the
strain of the United Kingdom variant
died in Córdoba
.
The news was confirmed by sources from the Cordoba Ministry of Health to the newspaper La Voz.
The provincial health portfolio reported that it also detected the new
variant of "Manaos"
and the British one in 15 Cordovan patients.
Of these, four are travelers from Mexico who, upon returning, were swabbed and tested positive for Covid-19.
It was then confirmed by genetic testing that they had been infected with the so-called "UK strain".
It was one of them who
died in a private clinic in Córdoba
.
On the other hand, a 27-year-old person who returned from Switzerland and made a stopover in São Paulo was infected with the variant called “Manaus”, although he
had a negative PCR performed
upon arrival in the country.
"As he did not quarantine upon arrival, eight people from his family and friends were also infected," the newspaper said.
"Three of these 15 patients in whom we registered the new variants were hospitalized and, unfortunately, one of them died in a private health facility," said Laura López, head of the Epidemiology Area of the provincial Ministry.
