Brazil is sinking into a health crisis out of control, with 300,685 deaths since the start of the epidemic.

Brazil crossed the threshold of 300,000 deaths from the coronavirus on Wednesday, with 300,685 deaths, the Ministry of Health announced as the country is going through its worst period in a year of pandemic.

In the past 24 hours, 2,009 new deaths have been recorded in the second most bereaved country in the world behind the United States, and where hospitals in virtually every state are on the verge of breaking down.

Steadily accelerating since the last week of February, mortality due to Covid-19 will beat all monthly records in March since the start of the health crisis and is out of control.

Nearly 90,000 new cases of contamination have been recorded in the past 24 hours, said the ministry, whose data is considered underestimated by many scientists.

Jair Bolsonaro, who wishes to run for re-election in 2022, expressed for one of the first times his solidarity "with all those who have lost a loved one".

Words greeted by saucepan concerts, in protest, in the main cities of the country, such as Rio, Sao Paulo and Brasilia.
