Affected by the health crisis, tired of the uncertainty of the time, the harpsichordist François Grenier ended his life on March 17.

, the 39-year-old musician from Avesnes-sur-Helpe, in the North, resided in Lille.
With cellist Claire Lamquet, he co-directed the early music ensemble Hemiolia.

This music lover was also choir director for several institutions in Hauts-de-France.
His repertoire spanned several centuries, ranging from early music to contemporary creations, including scores by Eric Whitacre.

, the founder and artistic director of Hemiolia, Claire Lamquet, wished to pay tribute to him.

With the health crisis, and in particular from the second confinement, I felt a clear change in François' behavior.
He had a lot less energy, he was so sad about the concert cancellations.
He couldn't stand them anymore,
”regrets the trained cellist, adding that a tour in Bolivia was planned and then postponed by the health crisis.
“
François was a jolly fellow, but on the outside he could be shy.
He was an extremely sensitive personality.
Today I find it hard to imagine giving back the artistic projects that we had designed together.
We will have to reinvent ourselves, but it will never be the same again,
”she added.
The musician was buried on March 24 in his hometown.
“The
same where I played for the first time with him in 2008,
” recalls Claire Lamquet sadly.
