Covid: over 23,000 positives and another 460 deaths, rate at 6.8

(ANSA) - ROME, MARCH 25 - The contagion curve restarts well over 20 thousand positive swabs in a day and the victims of Covid in Italy in 24 hours are again much above 400.


   Signals contrasted by an episodic decline in hospitalizations in ordinary wards , while a massive influx of patients continues in intensive care.


    There are 23,696 coronavirus test positives, according to data from the Ministry of Health.

Yesterday there were 21,267.

Instead, 460 died in one day (the same number as yesterday).


    349,472 molecular and antigenic swabs were carried out in the last 24 hours;

yesterday there were 363,767.

The positive rate is 6.8% (yesterday it was 5.8%), up 1%.


    There are 3,620 patients hospitalized in intensive care, 32 more than yesterday in the daily balance between entries and exits, while the daily entries in intensive care are 260 (yesterday they were 300).

In the ordinary wards, on the other hand, 28,424 people are hospitalized, with an unprecedented decrease of 14 units in the last 24 hours, after many days of strong increase.


    The total cases since the beginning of the epidemic are 3,464,543, while the deaths rise to 106,799.

There are 562,856 positives currently, up 1,548 from yesterday.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, however, 2,794,888 people have recovered and been discharged, with an increase in the last 24 hours of 21,673 units.
