March 25 is

Dantedì

, the day in which Dante Alighieri is celebrated.

This year there is a double celebration because it marks the 700th anniversary of the death of the Supreme Poet.

Countless events in Italy and abroad.

The

Pope

also remembers it

.

"In this particular historical moment, marked by many shadows, by situations that degrade humanity, by a lack of trust and prospects for the future, the figure of Dante, prophet of hope and witness of the human desire for happiness, can still giving us words and examples that give impetus to our journey. It can help us to advance with serenity and courage on the pilgrimage of life and faith that we are all called to make ".

These are the words with which Pope Francis's Apostolic Letter "Candor lucis aeternae" ends on the seventh centenary of Dante Alighieri's death.

THE DANTE SPECIAL: all the events in the world of culture

Mattarella, from Dante a lesson in coherence for everyone

- From Dante a lesson in coherence comes to us that is valid for everyone, including politicians, because one cannot go against one's conscience.

And one of his most important legacies is in the dilemma between justice and compassion.

On the day in which the 700th anniversary of the death of the great poet is celebrated, on Dantedì, the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, interviewed by Corriere della Sera, reflects on his message and stature, while inviting us not to update it at all costs, because Dante's greatness lies in his ability to transcend his time "and to provide indications, messages and teachings that are valid forever".

And its universality and beauty are to be sought "precisely in the particular aptitude of penetrating deeply into the human soul, describing its motions, feelings and emotions in an engaging way".

Franceschini, with Dante to see the stars again

- 'The whole of Italy moves in memory of Dante: there are thousands of initiatives that will celebrate Dantedì, the national day dedicated to Dante Alighieri, established in 2020 by the Council of Ministers on the proposal of the Minister of culture Dario Franceschini.

The complete list of initiatives is visible on the website of the Ministry of Culture and on its social channels.

"Here, the moment will come quickly when we can go out and see the stars again: music will return to the squares, theatrical performances will return, celebrations will return", said Franceschini.

At the Quirinale the reading of Benigni, XXV Canto del Paradiso

- In the presence of Mattarella and Minister Franceschini, live on RaiUno, at 19.10, Roberto Benigni reads the XXV Canto del Paradiso in the Salone dei Corazzieri at the Quirinale.
