In times of Corona, the German club scene is on the ground, dance events are almost impossible.
The Berlin techno pioneer Dimitri Hegemann, 66, is already thinking about the time after the pandemic.
At the end of last week, Hegemann published an appeal on Facebook: He was looking for “young makers in Prenzlau who are interested in setting up and running a small club for electronic music”.
Upon request, Hegemann confirmed corresponding plans.
He emphasized that he wanted to carry out the project together with local residents, he just wanted to provide support himself.
"Young people need space," he said, a club could provide impetus here.
The response to his appeal is said to have been great: According to Hegemann, several hundred people have contacted him, he does not ask for any further correspondence.
The mayor of Prenzlauer Hendrik Sommer (independent) confirmed that the city, which is around 100 kilometers from Berlin, is in contact with Hegemann.
Of course, they want to support potential investors, but the talks are only just beginning.
Dimitri Hegemann is one of the best known and most respected cultural managers and club operators.
His best-known project is the Berlin techno club "Tresor" in the heating power plant in Berlin-Mitte, in whose rooms the Atonal Festival for electronic and experimental music takes place every year.
Hegemann had recently announced that in future only those who have been vaccinated or tested will be admitting to his club.
Hegemann is also the founder of the “Happy Locals” initiative, which claims to promote cultural life in cities and rural areas.
