A documentary series on the life of Johnny Hallyday scheduled for the end of the year

Johnny by Johnny, which will be broadcast by Netflix, is to retrace the singer's journey from archives and interviews.


After Nicolas Anelka, Karim Benzema, Michel Sardou or more recently Gims, Black Dynamite tackles the greatest monument of French song.

In collaboration with Netflix, the production company will broadcast by the end of the year

Johnny by Johnny,

a documentary series on the life of Johnny Hallyday.

According to

Le Parisien

, it is the Taulier himself who tells his story, supported by relatives including his godmother Line Renaud and the photographer Jean-Marie Perrier.

The five episodes, of about forty minutes each, will be full of archives released for the occasion from the boxes of INA and Universal, the singer's record company since his beginnings in 1961 until 2005 and his signature at Warner.

In the Ile-de-France daily Eric Hannezo, the director of Black Dynamite said he was "

extremely proud to be able to tell the story of an unclassifiable French icon thanks to unpublished archive images

".

The project will be carried out by Frédéric Benudis and Charlotte Altschul.

Asked to testify in the documentary, Laeticia Hallyday, David Hallyday, Laura Smet, Sylvie Vartan and Eddy Mitchell did not wish to participate.

In May 2020, director Olivier Marchal set out to adapt the life of the Idol of young people to cinema.

He had also confided to

be in contact with the artist's family.

But the project was finally aborted, to the great regret of the filmmaker,

victim of "a crook"
