(ANSA) - BRUSSELS, MARCH 26 - "The EU Commission has approved an aid of 24.7 million euros allocated by Italy to compensate Alitalia for the further damage suffered due to the coronavirus pandemic": so the EU antitrust in a statement. "The measure approved today allows Italy to further compensate the direct damages suffered by Alitalia between November and December 2020 due to the restrictions" of the coronavirus, said the commissioner for competition, Margrethe Vestager. According to the EU, the measure is proportionate, and after the analysis of the damage route by route it has found that "the compensation does not go beyond what is strictly necessary" to compensate them.
