Documentation: A famous chef confronts a thief - and is wounded in the head (Walla system!)

Israeli chef Shalom Kadosh was attacked during a robbery and hospitalized in critical condition at Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Jerusalem.

The incident took place a few days ago at a gas station on Bethlehem Road in the capital.

As far as is known, Kadosh spotted a robber breaking into his car and trying to steal items from it, tried to confront him, was slammed hard to the ground and hit in the head.

The suspect in the act escaped.

For now, police have not been able to locate him.

Documentation - difficult to view - from the security cameras at the scene, published shortly afterwards, and describes what is happening in the compound a few seconds after the attack.

Kadosh, 74, was born in Morocco.

He immigrated to Israel when he was 13, and grew up in Afula.

His long cooking career began working as a cook on passenger ships departing from Haifa, moved to Jerusalem in 1974, and has planted roots in the city to this day.

He worked at the Hilton Hotel, then moved to the Garden of Light Hotel (which over the years became Leonardo Plaza) and became the hotel chef, a position he has proudly held for almost a decade.

During those years, Kadosh established his name in Israel and around the world, edited the "Encyclopedia of Cooking and Baking", weaved connections with global culinary stars, and never forgot the base from which he set out.

About three years ago, he received the Jerusalem City Medal.

"I was traveling and I almost got into the wall out of excitement," he told Ilana Stutland at Maariv at the time, "I really like Jerusalem, and I felt wonderful when I heard that."

Our guru

Kadosh, one of the forefathers of modern Israeli cuisine, is the culinary guide of dozens of chefs and the man who fed heads of state and world leaders, presidents and countless government colleagues who visited Israel.

He did all this without deviating even one step from his humble and warm path.

"A great chef is run as an admiral full of charm and authority. Indeed, a saint looks like this. Tall, upright and very elegant," wrote Sari Ansky in Maariv 15 years ago, "but most of his charm and power is expressed in sensitivity, kindness, shyness, modesty and generosity. On an entire fleet of chefs from Israel and the world. "

She says, "Even the greatest chefs have a guru. Ours is called Holy Peace."
