Ernst August von Hannover does not want to accept his conviction in an Austrian court.

The Guelph Prince has filed an appeal for nullity, guilt and punishment, said the regional court in Wels, Austria.

On Tuesday he was sentenced there to a ten-month suspended sentence and was instructed that he was no longer allowed to live in his property in Upper Austria.

The court saw it as proven that the 67-year-old had attacked police officers under the influence of intoxicants and severely threatened an administrator couple working on his property.

With Ernst August's appeal, the judgment does not become final.

The public prosecutor's office has not yet received a statement from the court, reported the broadcaster ORF.

Ernst August is said to have reacted indignantly to instructions

According to the court, the great-grandson of the last German Emperor Wilhelm II also appealed against other conditions.

The court had ordered him, among other things, not to contact the administrators, not to drink alcohol and to seek psychotherapy.

According to ORF, Ernst August reacted indignantly to the instructions.

For the Guelph Prince, the verdict could have been even harsher: he was threatened with up to three years in prison.

However, his intoxication was interpreted to mitigate his punishment.

Ernst August had apologized at the start of the criminal case: "I take responsibility, I regret what happened and I am ready to pay for the damage," he said.

The 67-year-old belongs to the royal family of the Guelphs.

In 2019, the family hit the headlines because Ernst August junior wanted to sell the Marienburg Welfenschloss to a foundation in Lower Saxony for one euro - against his father's will.

Ernst August junior had drawn attention to the high debts that the operating company of the castle had accumulated under the direction of the Guelphs.
