The actor Fritz Wepper is being treated for cancer.
According to the Innsbruck University Hospital, his condition is stable after an operation.
Wepper will continue to be treated in the intensive care unit, said a spokesman for the Tirol Kliniken.
There were no complications during the procedure.
The 79-year-old had last said in the »Augsburger Allgemeine« that he was fighting cancer.
After receiving the news at the end of last year that the metastases were receding, according to Wepper, a new "cancer focus" was last discovered.
He is on the mend, his lawyer Norman Synek told the dpa news agency on Thursday.
The clinic spokesman asked that the privacy of the patient and his family be respected.
Wepper's series before last season
