Employees with children up to 14 years in quarantine (because they are positive for Covid or as a result of close contact) or in Dad who cannot work in agile mode can ask INPS for leave with a Covid reason paid at 50%.
Inps clarifies this with a message in which it explains that this possibility is valid from March 13, the date of entry into force of the decree on measures to deal with the spread of Covid, until June 30.
In the case of a child between the ages of 14 and 16, leave can be requested from their employer but it is unpaid and there is a notional contribution.
The leave is due to the dependent working parents, "alternately" therefore not on the same days and for cohabiting children.
The requirement of age and cohabitation is not there if the disabled child in a serious situation is at home due to the closure of schools or day centers or of course if he is in quarantine.
Applications from private sector employees will be handled by INPS.
Public employees, on the other hand, must apply directly to the administration to which they belong.
The request for leave can be made whatever the cause of the child's contact quarantine even therefore even if it is not of scholastic origin as long as it is arranged with a provision of the Department of Prevention of the ASL territorially competent or for the suspension of teaching in presence, for example in case of red zone There is therefore no time limit for the request for leave (as happened with the first measures) but only a maximum term set at 30 June.
On the other hand, there is no abstention for workers who can do smart working.
Furthermore, "any periods of parental leave or extension of parental leave taken from 1 January 2021 to 12 March 2021 may be converted, without the need for cancellation, into the leave in question, only by submitting an electronic application for the new leave, not as soon as the relative IT procedure is adapted ".
At the moment INPS is adjusting the administrative and IT procedures for submitting applications relating to the new leave. But - he warns - it is already possible to take advantage of the Covid leave "with a request to your employer, regularizing the same, subsequently, presenting the special online application to INPS ".
