Like other travelers on the Egyptian Luxor-Alexandria and Aswan-Cairo trains collided, he tries to save the people trapped in the sheet metal crushed by the shock.
According to local authorities, at least 32 people were killed and 66 others injured in the midday crash about 460 km south of Cairo.
According to a statement from the Egyptian railways authority, the trains collided after unidentified individuals "applied the emergency brake in several wagons".
The collision, which resulted in the overturning of at least two wagons, took place "between the stations of Maragha and Tahta".
The prosecution announced in a statement that it had opened an investigation to clarify the circumstances of the accident.
