VERONA - Verona rekindles the wine business with a special edition of Vinitaly to be held from 17 to 19 October, in the presence and in safety, in the pavilions of the Scaligera fair.

An in-person b2b appointment strategically positioned as the arrival point of Veronafiere's first commercial initiatives abroad, starting from 3 April in China, and then restarting with around 54 / O Vinitaly open to the public from 10 to 13 April 2022. L he October event was presented today in a webinar which was attended by the heads of Veronafiere, Maurizio Danese and Giovanni Mantovani, and in connection with the Minister of Agriculture Stefano Patuanelli, the Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs Manlio Di Stefano, and the President by Ice Agenzia, Carlo Ferro.

The Vinitaly Special Edition aims to bring together institutions, supply chain associations and companies, involving them in a system project that represents the first business event of 2021 dedicated to the wine sector.

"Italian wine - said Maurizio Danese, president of Veronafiere - is a fundamental sector that expresses a production value of about 12 billion and an export that in 2020 stopped at 6.3 billion euros, down by 2, 3%. In this scenario, returning to planning and carrying out events in presence is even more fundamental. This is confirmed by the national and foreign operators of Vinitaly in a survey carried out between December and January: over 30% of the sample showed that participating in fairs it will be even more important than in the past, while more than 60% believe that trade shows will be equally relevant. "

Patuanelli, wine and fairs need events in presence

"The goal must be to put Vinitaly back at the center of the wine and agriculture policy. It is a fundamental event, it is in some way a goal for the exit from this pandemic, for October but we hope it can happen even before October. The Italian agri-food and wine sector need events in the presence, promotion, and to resume those initiatives that the pandemic has interrupted ".

This was stated by the minister of agricultural policies, Stefano Patuanelli, during the presentation of the Vinitaly special edition to be held at Veronafiere from 17 to 19 October next.

"The wine sector - observed Patuanelli - is certainly one of the most affected by the prolonged and necessary closure of the horeca channels in Italy and all over the world., As well as the exhibition sector, which was unable to operate, was strongly affected. The government, on both sides, has tried to do its part, with the awareness that resources will never be sufficient to support and restore the sectors that have suffered so badly from the pandemic ".

"We think that today it is necessary to plan the restart of tourism - added the minister - because from the resumption of the tourist movement the wine sector will have the possibility to restart".

Patuanelli, Italy-Spain presented to the EU on aid for the wine sector

"In Brussels, Italy and Spain presented the EU with the issue of specific elements of support for the wine sector severely affected by the pandemic".

This was stated by the minister of agricultural policies, Stefano Patuanelli, during the streaming presentation of the special edition of Vinitaly, a b2b event to be held in October at Veronafiere.

"We also supported the need - he added - to clarify the issue of alcoholates and partially de-alcoholates, which can be critical for our sector, where instead the term wine must be used for the quality and typical products of our designations of origin, for the strong link that exists between production and territory ".

In a more general key, Patuanelli recalled the theme of technological innovation, from accessories to satellite monitoring, which can affect modern agricultural production to allow "sustainable development, which creates added value, which must be correctly distributed in the supply chain. ".

"We have - he recalled - the great challenge of the post-2020 CAP, which we cannot lose. We must not think that 'it has always been done this way' and therefore we must continue to put money where it has always been. We must make agricultural producers understand what are the potential of this sector; they already know it, but a profound training action must be carried out on the potential of new technologies ".

Wine: Uiv, Italian market -25%, World Horeca -50%

"The domestic market in 2020 lost a quarter of its value, while the global orders of the international horeca in the same period suffered a contraction of more than 50%: Italian wine needs to restart from business, which is why we consider it strategic to be alongside Vinitaly also during its 2021 program ".

This was said by the president of the Italian Wine Union (UIV), Ernesto Abbona, commenting on the Vinitaly road map presented today, which finds its point of arrival in its October 'special edition'.

"No other producing country - added Abbona - has an international reference fair among its assets, a value to be protected which is reflected in the growth of the Italian product recorded in recent years. The role of Veronafiere together with the relevant institutions, starting from Ice, is to accelerate the business also by foreseeing the evolution of scenarios. This is why the October appointment is first of all an important message that Italy of wine will be able to give to the markets ".

According to the UIV Observatory, the world wine market will be able to return to pre-Covid levels not before the end of 2022, after having suffered damage of over 100 billion dollars due to the contraction of the on-trade channel.

Vinitaly special edition, safety and green health corridors

The format of Vinitaly Special Edition 2021, which will be held from 17 to 19 October 2021, rests on four pillars: the event will take place in the presence of the Veronafiere exhibition center: a delimited, controlled and safe thanks to the safetybusiness prevention protocol validated by the Scientific Technical Committee and by Aefi, the reference association of Italian trade fairs.

The second point is the exclusively professional characterization of the event, with entrance reserved for sector operators, physical and online tastings, a focus on the Italian market, the workshops and insights of the wine2wine Business Forum (18-19 October).

The meeting will be opened by the General States of Wine 2021: a conference with the participation of 50 top managers from the world of wine, the institutions and representatives of the European Union who will discuss the current scenario and future prospects.

The third pillar of the Vinitaly Special Edition is internationality.

Veronafiere, with Ice-Agency and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, is working to allow the arrival of selected buyers from abroad, in particular from target countries such as the United States and China, through green health corridors.

Finally, great attention will be paid to the companies that will participate in the October event so that they can capitalize on it as a marketing, communication and professional training tool.

Exhibitors will be offered pre-fitted turnkey areas, including services.

The virtual showcase and digital networking solutions of the new online platform "Vinitaly Plus" will also be available to subscribers, to integrate and expand the potential of the physical exhibition.
