Covid-19 in France: 194 new deaths and 4,791 intensive care patients

Contaminations and the number of patients in intensive care remain at high levels, confirming the arrival of a third epidemic wave.

While part of France begins a second week under new restrictions, the health authorities record, this Saturday, 194 new deaths linked to Covid-19.

These 194 new deaths, which occurred in hospitals, bring the total number of deaths in France (including those in nursing homes and other medico-social establishments) to at least 94,496 since the start of the epidemic.

At the hospital, in fact, 27,259 patients are currently being treated following an infection with the new coronavirus, 1,567 new admissions have been recorded over the last 24 hours.

They were 27,242 Friday, and 25,537 last Saturday.

Of this total, 4,791 patients are in intensive care (with 332 new admissions), against 4,766 on Friday, and 4,353 last Saturday.

Ile-de-France hard hit

Ile-de-France has about a third of the total patients in intensive care in France, leading to a deprogramming of most of the care in the hospitals of the region, as well as medical evacuations to come in the coming days.

1,429 # Covid19 patients are hospitalized in intensive care in Île-de-France, 130 are admitted daily to these critical care services.

In terms of vaccination, France has passed the milestone of 10 million injections, announced the Minister of Health Olivier Véran on Friday.

In total, on Saturday, 2,635,356 French people received two doses of the Covid-19 vaccine.

Friday, 338,110 injections were recorded during the day.
