The death toll from a stabbing that took place yesterday near a public library in Vancouver, western Canada, is one dead and at least five injured.
The attack was allegedly carried out by an isolated man who was later arrested and the reasons for the gesture are still unknown, according to the police. It all happened in the early afternoon inside and immediately outside the library. A witness said he saw the suspect being evacuated by ambulance after police shot him with rubber bullets. Another witness said she did not think there seemed to be any connection between the victims and the attacker, who was striking "randomly" between people. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) investigates the fact.
