A "

democratic betrayal

".

Environmental associations are up against Emmanuel Macron, accused of not having respected his commitment to set up a "real" climate law.

In their sights: the regulation of advertising which "

concerns only fossil fuels (

and not all polluting products

)

", the limitation of domestic flights by plane "

over shorter distances than expected

" or even the climate responsibility of large companies which “

is not at all binding

”.

"

The climate bill only responds very partially to the climate emergency

“, Denounces Benjamin Ball, of ANV COP 21, which advocates civil disobedience against projects contributing to climate change.

To put pressure on the deputies who will examine the climate bill on Monday, more than 600 organizations will demonstrate this Sunday throughout France.

They demand a law "

more ambitious

" and "

respectful of the democratic contract concluded between the President of the Republic and the Citizen's Convention for the climate

".

Nearly 200 walks will be organized across the country, including ten in the capital.

Contrary to what the government claims when it boasts of a law that will“ bring ecology into our lives ”or introduce“ major changes for our society ”, this bill is very weak

, comments Jean-François Julliard, Director General of Greenpeace France.

It is urgent and necessary that parliamentarians exercise their full power to amend and strengthen this text ”.

"

This law is emptied of its meaning and will have no impact

", agrees Franck, of Extinction Rebellion, who has planned "

to create disturbances

" in Paris to "

make politicians heard

" and "

raise awareness of the issues. climatic

”.

More than 100,000 demonstrators expected

The procession will leave this Sunday around 2 p.m. from the Opera and will reach the Place de la République around 5:30 p.m.

The organizers hope for more than 100,000 participants in France, including tens of thousands in Paris.

The objective is to beat the record for the March of the Century (

organized in March 2019, Editor's note

).

It will not be easy because of the health crisis but it will be the biggest mobilization for two years

", declares Benjamin Ball who says"

pleasantly surprised by the mobilization and rather confident

".

At the time, some 45,000 people had participated in Paris in this demonstration intended to denounce the “

inaction

” of the French government against climate change.

Environmental associations are not the only ones to mobilize.

More than 230 opposition politicians have signed a platform in which they denounce a text which they believe is not up to the emergency and are mobilizing to call for "

a real climate law"

.

Among the signatories, a former member of the majority, Matthieu Orphelin, who estimates that with this law, greenhouse gas emissions will only be reduced by 22% by 2030 and not by 40%, the commitment made by the government.

If the climate law was adopted as it stands, environmental associations have planned a “

” after the solemn vote in April.

"

We are considering massive civil disobedience actions by occupying symbolic places of power,

" warns Extinction Rebellion.
