Coronavirus in Argentina: 7,208 new cases confirmed, almost double than a week ago

Hours after the first vaccines from the COVAX fund arrived, this Sunday the Government confirmed

7,208 new cases and another 81 deaths

from coronavirus in Argentina.

It arises from the daily report published by the Ministry of Health, based on data uploaded by the provinces in the last 24 hours.

The 7,208 cases registered this Sunday show the sustained rise experienced by the curve.

Today's new cases are

almost double those reported seven days ago

, with a slight increase in daily tests (37,193, against 31,233 last week).

In addition, the previous Sundays, 3,697 cases (March 14) and 2,922 cases (March 7) had been reported.

With the new report, the total number of infected reaches 2,308,597, of which 173,633 are active patients and 2,079,515 have already recovered.

The 81 deaths (55,449 deaths from Covid-19 since the start of the pandemic) represent

53 more deaths than last Sunday.

There was a jump in the number of cases this Sunday, compared to the report seven days ago.

provinces with the most cases

in the last 24 hours, with the accumulated of each one since the beginning of the pandemic, are: Province of Buenos Aires (3,257 - 968,108), City of Buenos Aires (1,044 - 256,505), Corrientes (476 - 28,387), Córdoba (443 - 177,471), Tucumán (293 - 86,428), Santa Fe (234 - 229,157) and San Luis (203 - 22,349).

The other provinces

with 100 or more

infections

are: Misiones (142 - 11,698), Santiago del Estero (136 - 24,838), Mendoza (116 - 71,842) and Santa Cruz (100 - 38,954).

postpone the application of the second doses for three months.

This guideline "aims to vaccinate as

many people as possible

with the first dose to maximize the benefits of vaccination and reduce the impact of hospitalizations and mortality," as reported by the Presidency.

Each jurisdiction must decide now whether to apply it.

of the different vaccines that have arrived in the country

Almost 3 million people received a single injection - the health policy that is now expected to be extended - and just over 660,000 completed the immunization schedule with the two doses.

218,000 doses

of the vaccine to Argentina jointly developed by the University of Oxford and the AstraZeneca laboratory.

This is the first shipment delivered by COVAX, the fund in which several United Nations organizations participate.


COVAX announced that it plans to deliver a total of 1.9 million vaccines to Argentina between now and May.

According to data from the Ministry of Health, Argentina contracted a total of 9 million doses, although there is still no date for the arrival of the other 7.1 million.

It is expected that on Monday morning another Aerolineas Argentinas flight will depart to Russia to look for more vaccines than those produced by the Gamaleya Institute and on Tuesday another would leave for China to bring more of Sinopharm.
