Is this the right method to use salt and pepper shakers?

(TWITTER / @CreepyKellie /)

Recently it seems as if tricks are being spread in Tiktok on how to "do things the right way" - after years of doing them the wrong way.

Some of the videos show ingenious solutions while others just complicate things really simple - but the trick that teaches us how to use salt and pepper in the right way has gone viral for the right reasons.

It turns out that most of the matching salt and pepper shakers you find on restaurant or home tables have slots in the base of the glass container.

Tiktok user @ Cody.93 uploaded a video in which a restaurant worker is seen explaining to him how these slots can be used to your advantage with the caption: "How old were you when you learned the right way to use salt and pepper shakers?".

In the video, the worker holds the pepper upside down, runs the grooves at the bottom of the salt shaker around the pepper grooves and the vibrations cause the pepper to disperse smoothly and in a constant stream.

She then demonstrates how regular shaking does not take too much out of these tools, before returning to her previous method that works much more effectively.

Cody wrote in comments to surfers that these slots were probably created to prevent the tools from slipping on the table, but their second use is a welcome bonus.

That's how it works

The weird trick has been watched over a million times already and left viewers frustrated at how they did nothing right until Tiktok came into their lives: "Why are they planning things and not telling us why they exist?", One reporter and another added: "Sorry? And why does that sound So good?".

A third suggested: "Call them vibrations of salt and pepper," and the latter laughed: "There are also such grooves in wine bottles, you know what to do now."

This trick was posted on YouTube back in 2018
