Florencia Carignano, head of Migration, referred to the situation of Argentines who were stranded abroad or at border crossings without being able to return to the country, as happened in 2020 at the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic.

"We are

not going to leave them stranded

. We are going to schedule flights specifically to bring Argentines," he said in a dialogue with radio

La Red,

and asked people not to approach any border crossing because they will not be able to enter the country.

The official announced that in the coming weeks they will begin to reschedule flights "

in an orderly manner"

, but that this will be done without complicating the organization of tests in Ezeiza.

In any case, Carignano clarified that the rescheduling will be in charge of the airlines and that, in case of any inconvenience, each passenger will have to bear the costs.

The official also recalled that since December 25 the Argentine borders have been closed and that it is not possible to enter through any of the crossings.

"We are going to bring them.

All they have to have is patience

. When one assumes the risk of going abroad, one has the hypothesis of border closures, more in a pandemic, or that flights may be canceled. Well this happened, because decisions are made every day and

in a pandemic there is no predictability,

"Carignano remarked.

Hundreds of tourists return by bus from Brazil and many are stranded in Puerto Iguazú.

From this Monday

the borders will be closed

for all those people who want to enter the country from neighboring countries such as Brazil, Chile, Uruguay, Paraguay, Peru and Colombia.

However, at the border crossings there began to be situations of people arriving there by land to seek entry and being stranded there.

Regarding this situation, the head of Migrations recounted the case of a bus with people, whose return flight had been canceled, and who decided to get to the crossing to Uruguayana, a city with its "capacity full of intensive therapy beds. "and with the" highest number of deaths from the Manaus strain. "

There are 80 people, who are currently using the Migration facilities, according to the official, but who had left the country during 2020.

"We are analyzing case by case.

We cannot make them enter if they do not have another control,

" he said, and said that it is impossible "to install laboratories at the 237 border crossings."

Positive cases

Carignano explained that during the last weekend

13 positive cases of Covid-19

were detected

that entered through Ezeiza, 12 of them from Cancun, Mexico, and the last from the city of San Pablo.

These people had to carry out the PCR and assume its cost.

Then they were transferred to a hotel in the City of Buenos Aires together with their close contacts, waiting to detect if it is the strain that is already circulating in Argentina, so that they can then continue with their quarantine at home.

In case of detecting the Manaus strain or that of Great Britain in some of the people, they will be isolated in these centers and will have to pay the cost.

"

We are doing everything possible to delay the entry of the strains

from Manaus and Great Britain to try to vaccinate as many people as possible. The care is not bad, we are taking care of them and those who are in here", concluded Carignano .
