After a bloodiest weekend since the Burmese army putsch in early February, with 114 civilians (including seven children) killed on Saturday alone, villages of an ethnic Karen minority were bombed Sunday by hunters from the military junta, after one of their armed rebel group seized a military base.
Entire families had to flee their homes in the middle of the night, taking with them the bare necessities to take refuge in the Burmese jungle.
According to Hsa Moo, of the Karen ethnicity and human rights activist, three people were killed and at least eight others injured.
This is the first air attack in this state in 20 years.
The situation is worsening day by day in a country where every pro-democracy demonstration is systematically repressed in blood.
According to a local NGO, 459 civilians were killed by the Burmese army.
