Dedicated Mountain: Not for those who are afraid of heights

This is what happiness looks like: You are standing on a jagged peak above the desert, hovering over the landscape.

Foot here, foot there and a slight fear of heights that is felt in the abdomen.

Happiness.

A dedicated mountain in the Arava offers on weekends and holidays (the rest of the time it is in a fire area) a family trip that will suit large children (7 and up) who are accustomed to walking.

In exchange for the fear of heights, you will get an amazing panoramic view and also some challenges on the way, such as walking on the steep side of the mountain with the help of pegs.

This mountain, in the Ein Yahav Makhteshim Reserve, got its name due to the fact that it is serrated like a saw.

After skipping this hurdle (literally), continue to a small and beautiful mall that feels like the end of the world.

In short, a winning trip.

And one more thing that will make the kids happy: on the way to the start of the runway route you will watch the skeletons of fighter jets, used for Air Force training.

Getting there and additional information: In

front of the entrance to Moshav Hatzeva (Route 90), turn west on a road marked green.

The road ends after 12 km at the meeting point with a red marked path. Here the hike begins on foot, on a green marked path. From the top of Mount Masur you descend on a red marked path. M.

You must have a route map and a detailed "road story".

In exchange for the fear of heights, you will get an amazing panoramic view.

Aloni Baram Forest: Little Europe

If there is one forest in the country that has a chance to meet fairies - it is the Aloni Baram forest.

Aloni Baram Forest is actually a nature reserve located in the area of the larger Baram Forest.

It is tangled, damp, dim and full of mystery.

A number of hiking trails pass through the forest, and our recommendation is to choose the circular trail that is only about three kilometers long - a comfortable family trip in a space reminiscent of Europe. Small

. thanks to the fact that the square belonged to the Maronite church in the area of Biram, took advantage of oak trees where felling by the Turks.

reach and additional information:

starting and ending point of the route is parking Leah and Yitzhak Rabin (along route 899). it follows a track marked green to the south, continue for blue Inside a picturesque wadi and ascending a red trail and then a black one.Especially on this route, it is mandatory to have a map and a detailed description of the route.

Nahal Mashash Square: Nahal Darga - the family version

Everyone knows that the route in Nahal Darga is considered one of the most challenging in the Judean Desert.

But there is also good news, because here is hidden a lighter (relatively) family version, which offers you to sample the creek, alongside impressive canyons and cliffs.

The route is suitable for families who love to travel, with large children (7 and up).

It will take you to Wadi Mashash, which "belongs" to Nahal Darga, and if you want - you can also climb to a square cave - a challenging and a little scary experience.

In return, you will get an amazing panoramic view straight to the soul.

And everything is interwoven with slippery stone waterfalls that are courtesy of iron steps.

Arrive and more information:

From Highway 90, ascend towards a holiday village from Dragot Cliffs.

You can park next to it, or continue with a careful drive with the bumpy road until the beginning of the footpath that descends to the river (which will shorten your route).

Begin the walk on a wide dirt road marked in green.

At one point it turns south onto a narrow path that passes through a spectacular canyon (red marking).

At the end of the route you reach a path marked in black.

Length of the route: about 6-4 km (depending on where you park). You must have a route map and a detailed "road story".

Impressive canyons and cliffs.

Old Neve Ilan and the College Forest: Peace in the Jerusalem Mountains

Here is a hiking trail in the Jerusalem mountains that you probably not only did not visit, but you may not even have heard of.

It includes a visit to several sites in the Neve Ilan extension, a shouting distance from Jerusalem.

It begins at the historic site "Old Neve Ilan" - a high hill where hints of the first settlement here, from 1946, have survived. There are communication canals, remains of stone structures (including an impressive Mukhtar house) and great views of the Jerusalem mountains.

From here, continue by car for a few minutes to the "Danish Lookout", meet at the Neve Ilan Hotel and arrive at the Monument to the Jews of Belgium and from there to the "Loki Lookout", high above the landscape.

Also on the route: an inspiring and ruined sculpture garden that goes by the name "Ruin on the Side", from which there is also a wonderful view of the lowlands.

Arrive and additional information:

"Neve Ilan" in Wise and from there deposit to follow the route according to a detailed description while assisting with the map of the area.

Length of the route: about 4.5 km.

The Wells and Cisterns Trail: The Best of Britain Park

Another family trip that will suit small children who like to walk two or three hours for fun, is the "Path of Wells and Cisterns" in Britain Park in the lowlands.

It is fragrant, calm and full of revelations of past clues.

Mostly cisterns, ancient agricultural installations and even a cave or two.

In fact, even someone who thought he was well acquainted with Britain Park and had not yet modeled this trail, might be surprised.

For the better of course.

And if you haven’t hiked here yet, this is a hiking trail that will bring you in a relatively short time with all that Great Britain Park has to offer.

Most of the walking is between low hills and dense woodland, and your main job is to make sure the kids don’t get off the marked trail (still, cisterns on all sides).

Anyway, everything here is well controlled so you are organized.

Getting there and more information:

At the Azka junction on Road 38, turn west onto Road 383 and look for the entrance to Britain Park on the left.

Enter, and about 1.8 kilometers from the entrance you reach a split from which five roads branch off.

Turn right and after a few meters we will see the parking lot of the cistern, where the trip begins and ends.

Length of the route: about 3.5 kilometers.

Fragrance, calm and full of revelations of hints from the past.

The summit route on Mount Tabor: always successful

So many times you have passed the foot of this mountain on the way north, but have you ever considered climbing to its round summit and going for a hike around a summit?

Here, this is your chance.

This route is well known and well known, and yet - it always does the job well.

It has panoramic views, an easy walk among grove trees, small surprises on the way (a hidden cave at the beginning of the route) and also an introduction to a beautiful church complex, located at the top of the mountain.

On days when they are being repaired, this complex is full of tourists and a night of languages is heard from all sides.

Now everything is of course quieter.

The heart of the compound is the "Church of the Transfiguration," which earned its name because of the belief that this is where Jesus performed the "miracle of the Transfiguration."

The current church was built about 100 years ago on the ruins of earlier churches, and everything here is superbly maintained.

It is also the place from which to embark on the circular hike, intertwined entirely with the landscapes of the valleys and the Lower Galilee.

Classic for families with small children who like to walk (not suitable for strollers).

Arrive and more information:

"Mount Tabor" in Wise.

Park in the parking lot after the "Wind Gate", and return on foot to this gate, from where the route begins, with a black marking.

The length of the route is about 2.5 km.

An easy walk through woods and small surprises along the way.
