The Israeli variant: The

Ministry of Health published a study today (Tuesday), which shows that a mutation of the corona virus has developed in Israel, but it is not common and does not have a high infectivity or cause serious illness.

According to the study, between the months of March 2020 and January 2021, 181 cases of the variant were detected, mainly in the cities of Rahat, Netanya and Haifa starting in July.

However, with the entry of the British variant into Israel, the Israeli variant began to disappear.

The study shows that as of February 2021, the British variant is the dominant disease and appears in over 90% of sequences in Israel.

For the first time: there are no red cities

Earlier today, the Ministry of Health published data on the spread of corona in Israel, which shows that the vaccination campaign continues to suppress the disease, and in fact for the first time since the traffic light outline was introduced - there are no red cities in Israel.

According to the ministry, 356 new verified cases were identified yesterday out of 42,328 tests.

The rate of positive results stands at 0.9%, and the coefficient of infection has dropped to 0.53.

The number of active patients stands at 8,268, almost half as low as last week, when it stood at 14,953.

638 corona patients are hospitalized in hospitals across the country, 423 of them in critical condition, 226 in critical condition, and 206 connected to respirators.

75% of patients defined as critically ill were not vaccinated for corona.

Furthermore, data from the Ministry of Health show that 5,228,324 people received the first dose of corona vaccines, and 4,741,946 Israelis were vaccinated with the second dose.

HMOs have reduced the activity of vaccine complexes in light of a decline in demand for vaccines.

During the holidays, the daily number of vaccinators was only about 7,000-6,000 and also in the week before the holiday there was a decrease.

Despite the many encouraging signs, the Corona Information and Knowledge Center said that it is not possible to determine at this stage that the plague is behind us and therefore we must avoid complacency, continue to follow the guidelines and take care when continuing to ease restrictions on the economy.
