After Klaus Dörr left as director of the Berliner Volksbühne, a duo temporarily took over the head of the theater: the dramaturge Sabine Zielke and Gabriele Gornowicz, managing director until 2014, are heading the interim board of directors, as the Senate Cultural Administration announced on Monday.
This could secure the game plan and the artistic work.
The interim directorate also includes Thomas Walter (managing director from 2014 to 18), Klaus Michael Aust (chief dispatcher), Stefan Pelz (technical director), theater director Thorleifur Örn Arnarsson, a member of the ensemble and a member of the staff council.
The Berliner Volksbühne is one of the most important theaters in the country.
Dörr took over the management three years ago after quarrels about his predecessor.
After the turbulent times he was supposed to temporarily run the theater while the director search was ongoing.
In the coming season, the director René Pollesch will take over the house.
The daily newspaper “taz” reported in mid-March that several women had complained about Dörr to Themis, the Berlin office of trust against sexual harassment and violence.
Among other things, it was about verbal intimidation, sexist slogans, inappropriate SMS and upskirting, i.e. secret photography under the skirt.
The cultural administration has won two mediators to deal with the incidents, the statement said.
Dörr had given up his post in mid-March.
