(ANSA) - ROME, MARCH 30 - "The terrible ordeal of the pandemic has exposed the limits of our socio-economic system. In the world of work, existing inequalities have worsened and new forms of poverty have been created".
The CEI says this in the message for the Primomaggio indicating three categories: "highly qualified workers or in any case protected and privileged workers who have not seen their position at risk", "workers in sectors or activities at high risk" such as "trade, entertainment, catering, artisans ", and unemployed or undocumented people who have experienced" the most difficult situation because they are outside the official welfare protection nets ".
But the situation could get worse.
"It must be considered that the government has blocked the layoffs, but when the block is lifted the situation will become really dramatic", underlines the CEI.
Finally, the Italian bishops promote smart working: "The forced remote work exercise to which we have been forced has made us explore the possibility of reconciling work time and time of relationships and affections that we did not know before".
