Normally, the two entertainers Joko Winterscheidt and Klaas Heufer-Umlauf can earn 15 minutes of freely available airtime from their employer on the show "Joko & Klaas against ProSieben".
For the "Not taken for granted" campaign, the moderators asked ProSieben for more airtime than the usual quarter of an hour.
They used their show "Joko & Klaas Live" on Wednesday evening to draw attention to the care emergency in Germany.
Numerous men and women from hospitals and old people's homes spoke under the motto “Not to be taken for granted” and pointed out the problems in care.
For example, viewers could use a camera to follow the shift of a health care worker in the bone marrow and transplant center of the Münster University Hospital.
A Cologne nurse said it was sad that a pandemic was necessary to illustrate the dire situation of care in Germany.
And two nurses made the high workload and poor pay clear.
For decades, politics and society have failed to organize fair pay and manageable amounts of work.
"Something like that turns something upside down in such a station and, strictly speaking, contradicts every rule of television," Klaas introduced the long-term care emergency special broadcast.
Joko added: »A topic that affects us all, right in the middle of life, and yet too often at the very edge of general perception.
Many issues in life only get the status they deserve when you have the opportunity to put yourself in a life that is not necessarily your own. "
# not of course
The hashtag # is not a natural trend on Twitter and numerous users praise the campaign.
Alexander Jorde, who himself took part in the show as a carer, also used the hashtag to contact Health Minister Jens Spahn.
In their program "Joko & Klaas Live", the two entertainers repeatedly deal with socially relevant topics.
The presenters earned the free airtime in the show "Joko & Klaas versus ProSieben", which was broadcast on Tuesday, in which they compete against their employer in several competitions.
