The United States has ordered its non-essential diplomatic staff and their families to leave Burma.

More than 500 civilians, including many students and teenagers, were killed by security forces in the February 1 military coup in Myanmar (formerly Burma), according to the Association for Assistance to Political Prisoners. "We have the confirmation of 510 deaths", says the NGO, specifying that the toll "is probably much higher", with hundreds of people arrested in the last two months of whom nothing is known.
