A cattle producer from La Pampa set traps to protect his cows from wild boars in the area, but by accident he
mutilated a female puma
, which lost one of its legs, and now the Justice sentenced him to
pay the animal's maintenance costs
as long as i live.
Brigadistas from the Lihué Calel National Park, in La Pampa, were the ones who ran into the feline, prey to the
trap that hung from a wire
on the border between the private territory and the natural reserve.
The specialists, who already knew the animal because it had been seen several times by the cameras of the 32,500-hectare protected area, managed to rescue it, and transfer it to the Villa Rumipal reserve, in Calamuchita, Córdoba.
The brigade members of the national park rescued the animal from the trap.

From there, a lawsuit for violence to the detriment of a
wild animal
was initiated
.
The fact is that "Unelén", as the feline was baptized in its new home,
had to be amputated of its front leg
and will no longer be able to hunt.
That is why the Justice was issued and sentenced Sergio Neubauer, the owner of the field, to pay a monthly payment of
$ 4,000
, which will cover the expenses of caring for the mammal while it lives.
The fee will also
be adjusted every six months
.
It is estimated that the animal can live 15 to 20 years longer.
Viviana Soledad Antoci, mayor of the Lihué Calel National Park, explained to Cadena 3 how the situation developed: "When an animal ends up injured and cannot be reinserted into its environment, it must be taken into captivity," she said.
The owner of the field said that the trap was to protect his cows from wild boars.

And he added about this case: "As his leg had to be amputated and it is the means he uses to hunt and survive,
the alternative was to find a place for him
."
Failure to pay will trigger the continuity of the court case, which could end with a ruling ordering jail: "Set a legal precedent for possible subsequent fights," said Antoci.
In his defense, the owner of the field said that the purpose of the trap was a wild boar,
whose game is released in the area
, to preserve his cattle.
In parallel, a civil lawsuit was initiated, still in process, which could condemn the payment of a fine that at least allows to recover part of the 300 thousand pesos of operating expenses that were allocated to the rescue and recovery of the puma.
