Neckarsulm - In Germany there should be significantly more opportunities for citizens in the future to undergo a free quick test as part of the Corona test regulation.

As the German Press Agency (dpa) reports, several large retail chains are planning to set up corona rapid test centers across Germany.

The Schwarz Group, to which the supermarkets Lidl and Kaufland belong, announced on Tuesday that they wanted to set up "several hundred test centers" in the customer car parks of the branches in the coming weeks.

The goal is a nationwide offer of free tests.

The supermarket chain is working with the test provider Ecolog.

Corona rapid tests in Germany: drugstore chain dm will set up 500 test centers by the end of April

Germany's largest drugstore chain, dm *, had previously opened its first rapid test centers in Baden-Württemberg, Brandenburg, Rhineland-Palatinate and Hesse.

According to the dpa, the drugstore market leader wants to set up 500 test centers nationwide by the end of April.

A total of at least 1000 are planned.

So far (as of March 31, 2021) dm offers a rapid test center at the following locations:

  • Tubingen

  • Karlsruhe

  • Brandenburg on the Havel

  • Ettlingen

  • Mainz

  • Frankfurt am Main

  • Ludwigshafen on the Rhine

  • Fulda

  • Hanau

Corona rapid test: Lidl and Kaufland are planning several hundred test centers in Germany - successive expansion

The Schwarz Group will start building test centers, which will enable quick and easy access to rapid corona tests, on Tuesday, March 30th.

According to the company, the expansion will start with the following locations:

  • Heilbronn

  • Eppingen

"When selecting the locations, the focus is on easy accessibility for all citizens," says the owner group of Lidl and Kaufland.

The aim is to set up several hundred test centers in Germany in the coming weeks and thus to create a nationwide range of free tests.

In the test centers, all citizens can be tested once a week free of charge by the cooperation partner Ecolog under the name Ecocare.

In addition to online registration, it is also possible to register directly on site.

According to the Schwarz Group, the test centers are initially open Monday to Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Most recently, a model experiment with rapid tests set the tone in Tübingen - the university town in Baden-Württemberg opened up gastronomy, trade and culture to tested people as part of a project.

Rapid tests and self-tests can easily be confused - the differences, however, are serious.
