(ANSA) - ROME, MARCH 31 - Rai is confirmed as the most efficient public service among the main European operators.

This is what emerges from the research that the MarketingRai Department carried out in 2021 by comparing the Public Service Media present in Great Britain (BBC), France (France Télévisions, Radio France eFrance Médias Monde), Germany (ARD and ZDF, Deutschland Radio eDeutsche Welle), Spain (RTVE and the regional TVs associated with LaForta) and Italy (RAI), starting from the most recent EBU data available (2019).

The largest item of revenues is represented by public resources, fed according to the case by a license fee or other state subsidies.

The German public service, as a whole, is characterized by the highest public support (€ 8.2bn on € 9.5bn of total revenues), followed by the English public service (€ 4.3bn on € 5.6bn of total revenues), French (€ 3.3bn on € 4.1bn of total revenues), Spanish (€ 1.8bn on € 2bn of revenues) and Italian (€ 1.8bn on € 2.6bn of total revenues).

In particular, public funding affects overall revenues for 91% in Spain, 87% in Germany, 80% in France, 77% in the UK and only 69% in Italy (percentage growing, essentially due to the progressive decline in advertising sales).

The rent in Italy is confirmed to be significantly lower than in other countries: in Italy € 90 in 2019 (as in 2020), against € 139 in France (€ 138 in 2020), approximately € 179 in the UK (€ 175 in 2020) and € 210 of Germany (as in 2020).

Each household that pays the fee spends € 0.58 in Germany, € 0.48 in the UK, € 0.38 in France and € 0.25 in Italy every day (in Spain public service operators are financed only by state subsidies ).

Rai has a lower number of resources used than other public services, but it proves to be the most efficient public service, confirming also in 2019 the first place in terms of share with 35.7%, ahead of the BBC with 30.9% , France Télévisions with 28.9%, ARD with 28.2% and ZDF 19.9%, RTVE with 15.5% and the Spanish regional public channels adhering to Forta with 8.1%.
