Faced with the psychosocial risks that the introduction of "full telework" would run, the Ministry of Labor wants to continue to allow employees to go to work once a week.

Towards a completely teleworking?

As the government examines the possibility of strengthening health measures, companies have worried that the day per week at the office, permitted by the government if teleworking employees wish, will be abolished.

The Ministry of Labor wishes to reassure and affirms that this scenario is not privileged, according to information from the Parisian.

The objective is therefore to continue to allow employees to benefit from this “

decompression valve

” represented by one day per week spent in the workplace.

Enough to reassure the employers, who were worried in recent days about the risks posed by the possible establishment of compulsory teleworking.

The president of Medef Geoffroy Roux de Bézieux thus alerted, Monday, on the possible "

psychological disorders

" related to the generalization of teleworking.

These can, according to him, appear because "

after a month, two months, three months alone in a small apartment in front of Zoom or in front of a videoconference that creates problems

", he developed on LCI.

The psychological health of the French closely monitored

The Ministry of Labor is also attentive to the evolution of the morale of French teleworkers.

Because isolation begins now weighs on many French people.

According to the “Barometer

of the psychological health of French employees in times of crisis

” carried out by OpinionWay for the firm Empreinte Humaine, 49% teleworkers describe themselves as in a state of “

psychological distress

” after a year marked by health measures.

This rate climbs to 75% for teleworkers who live in less than 40 square meters.

40% of employees who work from home even admit to “

saturating teleworking

”.

Despite these alarming figures on the psychological health of French people working from home, the Ministry of Labor must also deal with studies concerning the places of contamination with the coronavirus.

They do not argue in favor of a return to the office.

Last December, the Institut Pasteur estimated, in its ComCor study on these places of contamination, that the workplace was the second area of infection outside the home.

29% of contamination would thus occur at work, as recalled by Jean Castex during his press conference in mid-March to announce a tightening of health measures.

Faced with these various issues, the ministry maintains the status quo but reiterates the rule: all employees who can telecommute must do so.

A recommendation which is still only partially followed.

According to the ministry, 35% of employees who could telework do not.
