(ANSA) - CATANIA, 01 APR - The washing fountain produced by the south-east crater of Etna has ceased, but an intense explosive activity remains, which produces a volcanic cloud that reaches about 5,500 meters above sea level that disperses in the South direction This was announced by the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology-Etna Observatory (Ingv-Oe) of Catania.
In the morning, a slight relapse of ash was reported on the locality of Milia and on the village of Nicolosi.
The share of the faces of the lava flows remains almost unchanged.
At the moment inspections are underway in the summit area by the staff of the Ingv for the sampling of the products of the eruptive activity and the observation of the development of the lava field and of the active lava fronts.
There is a progressive decrease in the mean amplitude values of the volcanic tremor which remain at high levels and whose centroid continues to be located in the SE Crater area at an altitude between 2,500 and 2,700 meters above sea level.
Even the infrasonic activity, which remains localized to the Southeast crater, shows a continuous decrease in the values of the frequency of occurrence and amplitude of the events, as well as a substantial decrease in the amplitude of the infrasonic tremor.
The Vona alert of the Ingv on the air spaces around Etna remains 'red'.
