In Berlin-Charlottenburg, a man is said to have first racially insulted the employee of a bakery and then kicked and hit him after she had refused him entry without mouth and nose protection.
The woman first asked him in the bakery to put on a mask or to leave the shop, the police said.
The man then insulted her and left, but then came back.
The visibly pregnant woman is said to have stood in his way, according to witnesses.
The man then apparently hit the woman several times on the arms and shoulders and also kicked her at least once in the abdomen, the police said.
The attacked defended herself by grabbing the flagpole of an advertising medium in front of the shop and hitting the man in the head with it.
He suffered a laceration and then left her alone.
Witnesses alerted the police who arrested the 41-year-old near the bakery.
He is being investigated for dangerous bodily harm and insult.
