Brusaferro: 'The curve has started to decrease but very slowly'. Rezza: 'In Italy for now I recall with the same vaccine' (ANSA)

There are 21,932 coronavirus test positives in Italy in the last 24 hours, according to data from the Ministry of Health.

On Thursday there were 23,649.

On the other hand, 481 victims

in one day (Thursday 501).

In total, 3,629,000 cases since the beginning of the epidemic, 110,328 deaths.

The currently

positive are 565,295

(+1,816 compared to Thursday), the healed and discharged 2,953,377 (+19,620), in home isolation there are 532,887 people (+2,038).

There are 331,154 molecular and antigenic swabs for the coronavirus carried out in the last 24 hours in Italy, according to data from the Ministry of Health.

On Thursday the tests had been 356,085, that is 25,000 more.

The positivity rate is 6.6%

, equal to Thursday.

There are 3,704 patients hospitalized

in intensive care

for Covid in Italy, 23 more than Thursday in the daily balance between entries and exits - they return to rise after three days of decline -, while the daily entries in resuscitation, according to data from the Ministry of Health, there are 232 (244 Thursdays).

In the ordinary wards, on the other hand, 28,704 people are hospitalized, a decrease of 245 units compared to Thursday.

Press conference organized by the Ministry of Health

"In the last period the epidemic curve begins to decrease but it is a

very slow decrease

".

This was stated by the president of the Higher Institute of Health, Silvio Brusaferro, at the press conference organized by the Ministry of Health on the analysis of the data of the weekly monitoring of the control room.

"On the recall with a different vaccine, the British with various studies are evaluating this possibility in the field but for now we do not have data from clinical studies, but in a few months we should have them. For now we do not have this problem in Italy, because we have

enough vaccines to make boosters

with the same vaccine as per protocols ".

"Hospitalizations are still growing and

the saturation data for 41%

of Covid ICU patients are of concern. But the vaccination trend is growing rapidly," added Brusaferro.

According to the Director of Prevention of the Ministry of Health

Gianni Rezza

, "the situation is improving but the Rt index is still close to 1 and also the incidence, which is slightly decreasing, is still high".

"The employment rate in intensive care remains very high, now at 41% - he added -. So there are signs that on the one hand the infection is slightly decreasing but on the other the burden on assistance services remains heavy" .

The value of the national RT falls to 0.98 below the alarm threshold of 1, which last week stood at 1.08.

The incidence stands at 232 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants against 240 last week.

These are the values that the ISS technicians and the Ministry of Health are examining and which should be confirmed in the weekly monitoring that will be presented today.

THE RESULTS OF THE WEEKLY MONITORING OF THE CONTROL BOOTH

Intensive care was above the critical threshold in 14 Regions

The number of Regions / PPAAs that have an employment rate in intensive care and / or medical areas above the critical threshold remains high: these are 14 Regions / PPAAs compared to 12 in the previous week.

This was communicated by the Higher Institute of Health in the weekly monitoring of the control room.

National intensive employment rate rises to 41%

The employment rate in intensive care at the national level is on the whole increasing and above the critical threshold of 30%: it is 41% compared to 39% last week.

The number of people admitted to intensive care is still increasing from 3,546 (23/03/2021) to 3,716 (30/03/2021).

The employment rate in medical areas nationwide is also increasing and above the critical threshold (44%) with an increase in the number of people hospitalized in these areas: from 28,428 (23/03/2021) to 29,231 (30/03 / 2021)

Variants dominate, do not reduce restriction measures

The circulation of variants with greater transmissibility is "largely dominant in the country which indicates the need not to reduce current restriction measures". Furthermore, the incidence and transmissibility data, "albeit slightly decreasing, combined with the heavy overload of hospital services require the maintenance of rigorous national mitigation measures accompanied by timely interventions in the areas with greater diffusion. It reaffirms, also in the light of the now widespread diffusion of some variants, to maintain the drastic reduction of physical interactions ". Thus the draft monitoring Iss-ministry of health.

Draft, 6 high-risk and 13 moderate-risk regions

Overall, the epidemic risk remains at high levels with six Regions (Calabria, Emilia-Romagna, Liguria, Puglia, Tuscany and Veneto) having a high risk level. Thirteen Regions / PPAAs have a moderate risk classification (of which seven with high probability of progression to high risk in the next few weeks) and one Region (Basilicata) and an Autonomous Province (Bolzano) have a low risk classification. This is evidenced by the draft of weekly monitoring Iss-Ministry of Health.

Calabria, ER, Puglia, Veneto report multiple warning signs

All the Regions / PPAA, except nine, have reported resilience alerts. Four of these (Calabria, Emilia-Romagna, Puglia and Veneto) report multiple resilience alerts. This is evidenced by the draft of weekly monitoring Iss-Ministry of Health.

11 Regions with Rt value above 1

Eleven Regions / PPAA have a punctual Rt greater than one. Among these, two Regions (Campania and Valle d'Aosta) have a transmissibility compatible with a type 3 scenario. Six Regions have a transmissibility compatible with a type 2 scenario. The other Regions / PPAA have a transmissibility compatible with a type 2 scenario. type one. This is highlighted by the draft of the weekly monitoring Iss-ministry of health. The regions are: Basilicata, Calabria, Campania, Liguria, Marche, Puglia, Sardinia, Sicily, Tuscany, Valle d'Aosta, Veneto.
