The Ministry of National Education indicates that 229 schools are completely closed this week. Face-to-face school

Unsurprisingly, the meter explodes.

11,272 school, college or high school classes are closed this week due to the Covid-19 epidemic, against 3,256 the previous week, according to the latest situation update communicated this Friday by the ministry of 'National Education.

These data are stopped Thursday at noon.

229 school structures, including 187 schools, are completely closed.

The week before, there were 148.

This strong development was expected because of the new health protocol, announced on March 26 by the Minister of National Education Jean-Michel Blanquer.

In areas already subject to "braking measures", the slightest positive case (varying or not) among students now results in the closure of a class.

So far, this measure only concerned kindergartens and it took three positive cases (or one case of the South African or Brazilian variant) to trigger the closure.

Moreover, the numbers of positive pupils and staff have evolved in smaller proportions than those of closed classes: respectively, from 21,183 to 28,738 and from 2,515 to 2,771 in one week.

245,000 saliva tests performed

This is probably the last report of this type before the end of April, all schools closing this Friday evening and for a period of three weeks (one week of distance learning and two weeks of vacation for all. the country).

This is the major announcement of Emmanuel Macron's speech on Wednesday evening.

Some establishments will nevertheless remain accessible next week to the children of caregivers or professionals in the health sector.

The ministry also indicates that nearly 245,000 saliva tests were carried out on students or staff from March 22 to 28.

That's 50,000 more than the week before, and 0.45% of them tested positive.

This rate seems low, but people who take this type of test at school often have less suspicion of being positive than those who favor a conventional nasopharyngeal test, in the laboratory or in a pharmacy.
