The Cycloposteurs association proposes to recover bio-waste by bicycle in the bins to recycle it as compost. To advance

The idea started with Julien and Cédric, former animators who have been converted into logistics, joined a few months ago by Anne.

Together, these inhabitants of Orleans (Loiret) have decided to combine their passion for cycling and the environment by launching a new service, the collection of bio-waste by bicycle.

“In the metropolitan area, a large part of the bins are made up of bio-waste that could be recycled.

We therefore propose to recover and compost them, ”explains Anne, who quit her job in mapping to devote herself full time to the project.

But to move forward, Cycloposteurs need more efficient equipment, a cargo bike, a trailer and bins, and therefore money.

Luckily, their project was selected to integrate the brand new crowdfunding platform Efferve'sens, supported by the Center-Val de Loire region, which is committed to doubling the funding of donors.

In just under a week, they have already collected more than 4,000 euros out of the 7,500 hoped for, and are hopeful of reaching their goal.

"We want to take a step forward, this is timely and gives us visibility," says Cédric.

In the meantime, they pedal with their own bikes and run their project with volunteers, before billing their service through a subscription system.

They will test a waste collection terminal for individuals in an organic store, and are in contact with restaurateurs, despite the Covid.

As for the land needed for composting, it was provided to them by the municipality, on the military wasteland of Groues.

If possible, Cycloposteurs would like to start in May, and thus hope to succeed in financing the part-time employment of two of them.
