The Netherlands temporarily suspends the vaccination of people under the age of 60 with the AstraZeneca vaccine.
This was announced today by the Dutch Ministry of Health, according to the PNA news agency.
The Dutch daily Volkskrant reports that the measure was taken as a precaution, after a few cases of side effects were recorded, with extensive thrombosis in combination with low platelet counts after vaccination with the AstraZeneca vaccine. The side effect occurred 7 to 10 days after vaccination in women aged 25 to 65 years. This prompted the Ministry of Health to take today's decision. Berlin recently suspended the administration of AstraZeneca's vaccine for the under 60s after new "severe" cases of cerebral thrombosis.
