(ANSA) - FLORENCE, 02 APR - "The analysis of the numbers confirms it: for visitors under 25 there was a stable growth between the end of June and the third week of August.
So the effect that could be called 'Socrates -Ferragni 'is solidly supported by the numbers, which reveal that it is not a question of isolated or episodic phenomena, but of a long-lasting and wide-ranging development, thanks to a precise and systematic approach aimed at young people ".
This was said by the director of the Uffizi Eike Schmidt, interviewed by the Foreign Press Association in Italy.
"The greater engagement of the youth audience can be understood through the analysis of the percentages - adds Schmidt - from which we detect a stable use of the under 19s throughout the summer despite the lack of school trips, and a singular growth in the 19-25 bracket from the beginning of June. at the end of July, followed by a relative stabilization which lasted until October. In 2020 for the first time the presence of visitors under 25 at the Uffizi Gallery was more than a third of the total (34.6%). This is equivalent to an increase in the range of + 24.9% compared to the previous year. For the 19-25 group there was a clear jump from 6.1% (2019) to 14.3% (2020): a growth of +134.4% compared to the previous year. The peak was reached in the two weeks after July 17, the date of Chiara Ferragni's visit to the Uffizi ".
As far as the Uffizi diffusi project is concerned, Schmidt explained that "it could also serve as a model for other cities of art and other territories", but abroad "rather than opening branches on other continents - he said - we are organizing and bringing exhibitions abroad, also aimed at arousing interest not only for the Uffizi themselves, but for Tuscany and Italy ".
