The case of Matías Montín (20), attacked in a bowling alley in Mar del Plata, brought to mind the crime of Fernando Báez Sosa, murdered in Gesell. Two months after the fact, he is recovering, slowly but steadily.

If you look back to the strangest of summers in the world, the postcard on the Argentine coast was that of a "no pandemic."

Sunset.

Dancing bodies on the beach.

Night.

The same dancing bodies.

For the protagonist of this story, who was just another tourist in Mar del Plata, the postcard is another.

It is the one of the summer night in which he lost his youth.

But Matías Montín is 20 years old.

At dawn on January 19, 2021, in one of the busiest nightlife areas of La Feliz, he “was” a young man

attacked with bottles by three boys in the VIP of the “Ananá” bowling alley

in Playa Grande.

They split his skull in three.

"The important thing is that he is alive, but he has to make the life of an 80-year-old man, being 20," said the father, Enrique, a week later, when his son was discharged.

Matías Montín, recovered in a hospital in Mar del Plata,

Two months after the bottle - at least there were two but one almost cost him his life - that the whole country felt for the video that he recorded from the stretcher comparing his situation with that of Fernando Báez Sosa (18), the boy beaten to death in Villa Gesell,

Matías is still unable to "nor play football," he

says, and in rehabilitation.

It cannot do many other things.

And he even speaks slowly.

The diagnosis of "80-year-old gentleman" -which indicates that he should avoid even the slightest of sudden movements- is for 6 months.

But since "there are some improvements", she hopes that by the end of fall "I am 20 again."

His attackers are free.

Defendants.

They were seven days in the intermediate therapy of the Private Community Hospital (HPC) of Mar del Plata.

After discharge from hospital, the following week he returned every day to have his neurological functions checked.

The wound has not yet disappeared on his head.

Clinically - the tomography says - and emotionally.

"The clot inside my head was absorbed a lot and I can do a little more normal life," says Matías.

“It has been two months and days.

Luckily, I am much better.

The clot inside my head got quite absorbed and I can do a little more normal life.

It is no longer so the life of an 80-year-old man, but I can do, in part, the things I did before.

Less hitting my head.

Actually, there is nothing I can do where my head could be at risk of being hit.

I'm not saying rugby, or boxing.

Not even football.

The shit is that the skull fracture continues, ”Matías tells

Clarín

.

In the video in which he was seen wearing a shirt and bandages on his head, he was already speaking slowly: “This message is more than anything to tell you that I was on a quiet vacation with my friends and that what happened was tremendous, just one year after what happened to Fernando, Gesell's boy.

Almost the same thing happens to me. "

Enrique looks back and his postcard from last summer is that of “the call with the bad news” and, at the same time, that of how badly his son assimilated what the doctors advised him: stop his youth.

“Matías did not take this care well, but we let him know that, thank God, he is alive

.

There was a long way to go, "he says.

What is it like to be 20 again?

“Look, I came back, calm, little by little, to go to my friends' birthdays.

Not staying up late, "he sums up.

And the clinical reappears.

“The fracture is going to be open for months.

The doctors told me that this is not so serious ”.

Now you can go to the gym again.

The rehabilitation -intensive kinesiology sessions- is also on the shoulder with which he cushioned his weight when he fell into the bowling alley.

He lives between Moreno, his mother's house, and Las Cañitas, his father's house.

One of the things that makes him feel young, he says, is the company of his partner.

“As for the emotional, I was about to start some therapy.

To resolve the question of why these things happen to me and try to find the answer.

But also to improve my head since what happened.

The truth was that it was very hard ”.

Enrique Montín, Matías's father, was by his son's side all the time.

Before the bottle, Matías was studying Chemical Engineering at the National Technological University.

“I still haven't started.

These days I start (will attend 2nd year).

I reckon that is going to be normal.

Wait".

He is attentive to

"that there is nothing bad left so that he cannot study."

What does a boy who “lost” his youth to a bottle think when he sees that similar stories continue to appear, always of group violence?

“I think that Justice has to be done.

So that these things do not continue to happen.

Let people see that if they do something like this, so serious, it will have consequences.

Maybe that makes them not do it.

The person attacked needs Justice ”.

How the cause continues

“We asked for an expertise on the suspects' cell phones.

As happened with the case of Fernando Báez Sosa, that through these devices a lot of information was obtained for the investigation.

On the same day of the attack, an investigatory statement was taken from the two defendants and the prosecution detained them.

The next day the third defendant appeared, of his own free will, and remained free, ”explains

Clarín

Ignacio Trimarco, his lawyer.

Two of the assailants were arrested and another surrendered voluntarily.

At that time, the accusation was for "injury in a fight" and "serious injuries", both with penalties that allow release.

But the moment Trimarco accessed the file, he noticed that the night of the bottle shots the police had returned the cell phones to the parents of one of the accused.

“They also gave them the car in which they had gone dancing.

Thus, elements for the case could have been lost ”, marks the lawyer.

The complaint denounced the prosecutor, Paulo Cubas,

for breach of his duty as a public official.

“He gave cell phones to a person who was not the owner, with information that today is very valuable for the investigation.

We are unable to know with whom (the accused) spoke, where they were, what happened and who participated in the attack. "

That's why the bowling alley was raided.

Matías's lawyer was looking for better images than those that had been provided in the security cameras.

The parents of two of the accused, according to Trimarco, are

related to the Rosario Central bar

and have a "very important" position in Conmebol.

“This must be analyzed objectively.

Because the prosecutor handed over the cell phones.

That deserves, even if it is, an investigation ”.

Away from the cause, Matías only thinks about being 20 again.

And he even started making jokes about the wound that has not yet closed:

"I am like an 80-year-old man, but I did not sign up for the vaccine."
