After a year of downtime, the Barash Sheva Theater is finally opening its doors to the public tomorrow.
The first play to be staged in the theater is "The Way of Peace", a political comedy by Guy Maroz, starring Molly Schulman, Sarah Vino Elad, Carlos Garzouzi, Oren Cohen, Zohar Meidan and more.
The play, inspired by Aristophanes, deals with a veteran farmer, who lives in the Gaza Strip, who makes an alliance with his Arab neighbor who lives beyond the fence.
The play is directed by Shir Goldberg, and the person standing next to her as assistant director is Molly Schulman, who also plays in the play.
"Guy Maroz has a sharpened and satirical pen," says Shulman.
"I play an agricultural game in the Gaza Strip that grows tomatoes, and one day he catches an Arab living 250 meters away from him, across the fence. The Arab tries to steal his electricity. A fateful partnership is formed between the two and they decide to make a peace agreement: quiet from shelling for electricity. "The foreign minister is doing everything he can to dismantle this agreement, because it is impossible for two individuals to show everyone that peace can be made."
You worked on this play during a turbulent election period.
I guess reality has entered the rehearsal room.
"Obviously. We laughed about it all the time and found parallels between the play and what's going on now. It certainly seems more relevant than ever, and the play was written in general before the Corona. Everything that happened in the last year just made it more topical and relevant."
This is the first time you are experiencing being an assistant director.
"This is an initiative that came from Shir Goldberg, the theater's artistic director who also directs the play. She reached out to me for a collaboration. I have previously directed one play at the Be'er Sheva Theater called 'Let's Meet Daddy,' and she thought it would be nice to collaborate. I am in charge of the comedy channels. Of the show and she's on top of everything else. For the first time in my life I had to wear a double hat of an actor and an assistant director at the same time. "In them, and I had the most fun directing them. The comedy cast is really great."
After a year of sitting at home you return to play in several plays simultaneously.

"Very. In three months I'm going to play in three plays at the same time (in addition to" The Way of Peace "also in" Rosa's Apartment "and" Magical Landscapes "- MK).
After a whole year it's a great feeling, if there's a hysteria - it's the hysteria I want, a hysteria of work, of a diary filled with dates, of going back to business.
Unlike many of my friends, in the last four months I have been privileged to work because we have rehearsed plays. "
Are you not afraid that everything will close again sometime?
" Obviously there is a fear of the unknown.
Both for the corona and for the audience and how everything will go with the vaccines, with the green mark and with sitting in the distance.
How will we feel when we play comedy in a huge hall where people sit island by island, separated and masked?
How do we know what the feedback is?
How do we manage to feel them?
There are a lot of question marks about this encounter but I have a feeling that both the actors and the audience have a tremendous desire to meet and see how it will work.
