Danish cyclist Kasper Asgreen won the Tour of Flanders in the sprint. At the finish in Oudenaarde (Belgium), the Dutchman Mathieu Van Der Poel preceded the 35-year-old Belgian Greg Van Avermaet, who preceded his compatriot Jasper Stuyven, winner of the Milan-Sanremo in third place. Van der Poel had a perfect race tactically but had to surrender 50 meters from the finish in front of the explosive sprint of the Danish national champion, still full of energy after 255 km on the terrible ups and downs of Flanders.
Further behind the big favorite of the race, the Belgian Wout Van Aert arrived 48 seconds behind along with other riders. Unlucky Matteo Trentin, knocked to the ground by a puncture in the decisive phase of the race when he was among the first.
