Mateo Sosa, the 9-year-old boy who had been run over in Morón,
died
at the San Justo Children's Hospital, where he spent three days in intensive care.
The family decided that it would
donate the child's organs
to the Unique Provincial Ablation and Implant Coordinating Center of Buenos Aires (CUCAIBA).
After the "brain death" was reported, and given the irreversibility of his condition, the child was
disconnected from the artificial respirator
, according to the site Primer Plano.
Nahuel Silva Correa, 22, the man who was driving the car that hit him, is at large.
The message of the Association Mothers of Pain before the death of Mateo
"Too much pain ... too much violence," is the title of the publication of the NGO where he dismissed the little boy who had been run over in Morón when he was going with his grandmother
The incident occurred last Wednesday.
Mateo crossed Eva Perón Street at 4,300, in the southern area of Morón, along with his grandmother.
According to the images recorded by security cameras, when they were in the middle of the street,
a black Volkswagen Bora
appeared at full speed
: without braking, its driver ran over the baby and fled the scene.
Another vehicle tried to prevent the escape.
However, Correa got his car onto the sidewalk and evaded it, before continuing on the road to La Matanza.
According to witnesses, another driver pursued him, although he was unable to catch him.
Mateo was rushed to the Favaloro Hospital in La Matanza, with internal bleeding.
After he was stabilized, he was referred to the San Justo Children's Hospital, with ventilation support, where he underwent surgery for a hip fracture.
The episode was labeled
"serious culpable injuries."
The accused, released
Eight hours after the accident, Nahuel Silva Correa appeared at the department where a statement was taken.
He gave information on the location of the black Bora - he was later kidnapped in La Matanza - and was detained.
In any case, Judge Gabriel Robles, of the Court of Guarantees Number 3,
decided his release
because "the penalty for this crime is a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 4 years, but it is not detainable."
The sources established that Correa's arrest was requested because "there may be a risk of flight or obstruction of the investigation."
"The judge did not check
if there is a risk of escape
, because the driver left at the time of the accident and left the child lying, he hid for 8 hours," Jorge, the boy's uncle, said last Friday at the TN signal.
And he added: "We are an advanced society, we should have humanity and not be so cold on paper, while the baby is interned fighting for his life and the kid is at home."
