12.8 million people tuned in to the finale of "Deutschland sucht den Superstar" - in the first season of 2003. This time it was not even three million, a negative record for the RTL show.

"Germany is looking for the superstar" has long been considered the big Saturday night quota maker on RTL.

In the first season of 2003, the show's finale averaged 12.8 million television viewers.

But on this Saturday evening, fewer viewers tuned in than any other »DSDS« final: Around 2.68 million people watched on Saturday evening as Jan-Marten Block was chosen as the winner.

An average of 3.22 million viewers attended the semi-finals.

Audience ratings for the format have been falling for years.

In 2020, however, four million people saw the final of the casting show.

For comparison: The ZDF crime thriller »A strong team: Get well soon« was watched by more than twice as many people (7.19 million viewers) as »DSDS« on Saturday evening.

The »Quiz Without Borders« moderated by Jörg Pilawa on ARD also attracted more TV viewers (4.09 million).

Younger viewers in particular stayed away from »DSDS« recently.

Fans of long-term juror Dieter Bohlen remained loyal.

But this had already signed off sick before the end of the current season.

RTL announced weeks ago that Bohlen would no longer be on the show in the future.

The background to the separation could be a more serious realignment of the Cologne private broadcaster.

For the »DSDS« semifinals, Bohlen had spoken on Instagram.

In a video, the 67-year-old said that he was "very happy with the situation."

He had "received a lot of offers".
